Group accommodation in Kaunas: where to stay for 3–6 people

← All articles

Open-plan kitchen and living room with balcony doors in the Picturesque apartment, Kaunas Old Town

In short: for three, four or five people, one apartment is the easiest way to stay in Kaunas together – one kitchen, one living room, one table. Picturesque Old Town Apartment in the heart of the Old Town sleeps five; the spacious Old Town Pearl Suite with a lift sleeps four. If you are six, or every couple wants its own door and its own shower, book several rooms side by side at Underground Kingdom Boutique. All three have self check-in, so it doesn’t matter who arrives first.

A group trip usually starts in a group chat: who’s coming, how, when they head back and who gets the sofa. Accommodation in Kaunas is easy to settle in one go if you know what your group needs more – a shared table and kitchen, or privacy for each couple. Below: how to choose, what works for three, four or six, and what to sort out in advance – cars, dinner and tickets.

One apartment or several rooms?

A group in Kaunas basically has two options: one apartment for everyone, or several private rooms under one roof. Both work – for different groups.

  • Privacy. In an apartment you share the living room, the kitchen and usually one bathroom. With rooms, every couple has its own door, shower and WC – nobody queues in the morning.
  • Kitchen and a shared table. Planning breakfast together, a bottle of wine in the evening or porridge for the kids? Take an apartment. Rooms normally have no kitchen, though each has a fridge and a kettle.
  • Space to hang out. An apartment is your living room by default. With rooms, check there’s somewhere to gather – at Underground Kingdom it’s a 35 m² lounge under the vaults.
  • Cost per person. An apartment is split between everyone: the more of you, the smaller each share. Rooms are priced one by one, which makes it simple for couples and friends to see who pays for what.
  • Beds. One question worth asking upfront: is everyone fine sharing a double bed? Couples – yes; colleagues – not always. Plan the sleeping arrangements around that.

Three, four or six: what fits

Three: an apartment with separate bedrooms

For three friends or a couple with a teenager, it helps when everyone has a door to close. Picturesque Old Town Apartment is a 45 m² apartment on M. Valančiaus street with two separate bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living room – plenty of room for three. Town Hall Square is about 300 m away, the castle about 250 m. If the third person wants a space of their own entirely, the alternative is two rooms at Underground Kingdom Boutique: the couple in one, the third guest in the other.

Four: two couples or a family

For two couples or a family of four, Old Town Pearl Suite is the natural pick: an 84 m² apartment in a building completed in 2024, with a lift, about 250 m from Kaunas Castle. Two bedrooms, a living room with a modern kitchen, a bathroom with both a shower and a bathtub, a washing machine and a balcony looking over the centre and the river. You’ll appreciate the lift the moment you arrive with four suitcases. The minimum stay is two nights – just right for a weekend. Two couples who want separate bathrooms can take two rooms at Underground Kingdom Boutique instead.

Five: one apartment for everyone

For five, Picturesque is about the simplest answer: two bedrooms with double beds and a sofa bed in the living room for the fifth guest. A fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and espresso machine, a washer and dryer, and a balcony over a cobbled Old Town street. Mornings start around one table; evenings end on the balcony watching the street go by.

Six: several rooms under the vaults

Six won’t fit into one Old Town apartment, which is where Underground Kingdom Boutique comes in – a small hotel in brick vaults from 1908, right where Laisvės alėja meets Vilniaus street. It has four private rooms for two guests each, every one with a double bed, its own shower and WC, air conditioning, a fridge and a kettle; room 2 also has a kitchenette. Three rooms take six people, all four take up to eight. The rooms open onto a 35 m² candle-lit lounge with its own street entrance, so the group has somewhere to get together in the evening. Being underground, there are no windows – and no street noise either, so after a long night out you actually sleep.

The other route for six or more is two apartments: Picturesque and Old Town Pearl Suite are both in the Old Town, just a few minutes’ walk from each other. That gives the group two kitchens and two living rooms, and meeting up for dinner is a short stroll.

What kind of group are you?

A weekend with friends

Friends coming to spend time together need shared space above all: an apartment with a kitchen and balcony, or a vaulted lounge where the evening carries on around the table. By day – the Old Town, Laisvės alėja and the modernist architecture; by night – cellar bars and nightlife. For a ready-made plan, see Kaunas Old Town in 48 hours.

A family, or several generations

Families need a kitchen, a separate bedroom for the kids and a calm evening. Old Town Pearl Suite, with its lift and bathtub, works well with small children and grandparents; Picturesque suits a family of five. A cot is available on request. Quiet hours in all our stays run from 22:00 to 08:00, so both neighbours and kids get their sleep. Ideas for the day are in Kaunas with kids.

A work team

Colleagues in town for a meeting, training or trade fair usually value privacy over a shared living room. Separate Underground Kingdom rooms, each with its own shower, give everyone their own space, while the lounge works for a short evening debrief. If the team prefers working around one table, Picturesque has fast 328 Mbps Wi-Fi. With self check-in, everyone can arrive on their own train at their own time.

A concert or a basketball game

For a group heading to a concert or a Žalgiris game, the trip back matters most. From Underground Kingdom Boutique to Žalgiris Arena it is about 1.3 km, a short walk; from the Old Town apartments about 1.9 km. No hunting for a taxi after the show and no late-night drive home – just an unhurried breakfast in the Old Town the next morning. Upcoming shows are in Žalgiris Arena concerts in November–December and events in Kaunas; for stays compared by distance to the arena, see where to stay near Žalgiris Arena.

Logistics: getting here, parking and eating out

Getting here. Groups often arrive by different routes: some by train from Vilnius, some by car, some by plane. Trains, buses and the last stretch from the station to the Old Town are covered in our guide on how to get to Kaunas. Old Town streets are cobbled, so with several suitcases a taxi to the door is the easiest option.

Cars. None of the stays has its own car park; parking is on the street. By the apartments in the Old Town you are in the Old Town zone, paid around the clock, while Marvelės street across the Vytautas the Great Bridge is free. Near Underground Kingdom, on Šv. Gertrūdos street, the green zone is free in the evenings and at weekends. With two or three cars, it pays to plan ahead with our Old Town parking guide.

Dinner. For five or six on a Friday or Saturday night, book a table in advance – popular Old Town places fill up at weekends. Tried-and-tested spots, from cepelinai to wine and cocktails, are in our guide on where to eat in Kaunas Old Town. And if the group would rather stay in, an apartment kitchen lets you cook your own dinner.

Book direct

Kaunas shows its best side to a group in the evening: a lit-up Town Hall Square, busy Vilniaus street, a concert at the arena or a long conversation over dinner. That evening is the reason to stay the night rather than rush back. Picturesque, Old Town Pearl Suite and the Underground Kingdom rooms can all be booked directly on mykaunas.com – no booking fees, cleaning and city tax included. If your group needs several rooms or two apartments on the same dates, drop us a line or give us a call and we’ll arrange it directly. For more on neighbourhoods, see where to stay in Kaunas.
